🚨 Welcome to SDC Weekly 84 - time flies, doesn’t it?!
In the last week we saw Rolex call time on Carl F. Bucherer, a few spicy MB&F x Bulgari reactions, and of course some rumours about Breitling reviving Gallet… not to mention Aston Martin's curious alliance with Timex, along with a scary article about the diamond industry which could easily be about the watch industry. There’s also some news about Rolex’s new releases which may or may not be informed by a couple of patents I found, and of course we go into some philosophical musings around the concept of ‘enough’. There’s also a bonus guest contribution from reader and subscriber
.Something for everyone, I hope!
If you’re new to SDC, welcome; do take a look at the older editions of SDC Weekly here, when you have a moment. A lot of it is ‘evergreen’, excluding the ‘newsy’ stuff.

P.S. I spoke to a handful of people about this, and I am actively trying to reduce the length of these weekly editions, bringing them closer to 30 minutes than 60 minutes… not sure this is always going to work out given Murphy’s Law always kicks in about an hour before I want to post, but I assure you, I will continue to try!

RIP: Carl F. Bucherer
I suppose this news surprised exactly nobody who understands basic accounting, but yeah, Rolex has apparently decided to shut down Carl F. Bucherer (CFB). They announced this on Friday 7 February, and supposedly told employees only hours before the news went public.
